What's your blend? Co-designing future mental health services

This design research project aims to explore the future of blended (digital and face-to-face) mental health services, with a focus on severe mental illness (SMI).

To-date the project has involved participants, co-designers, and expert advisors from across the UK. Varying in age, gender, digital literacy and cultural background. My collaborators include people with lived experience of psychosis, carers and varied healthcare professionals.

The process has included using semi-structured interviews, ethnographic photo activities, and design probes, to:

• understand real peoples needs, perspectives and aspirations
• explore current barriers and enablers for personalising blended care within existing mental health and social services

As well as (remotely) using experience-based co-design and speculative design methods to:

• co-design preferable future scenarios for how blended mental health services could be in the near future (3–5 years)
